Updated: Feb 9

I asked some amazing hair stylists for their go to hair tips and tricks, and let's just say... they did not hold back. From behind the chair secrets to must have facts, these are the pro approved tips straight from the source right to you.
Use dry shampoo in your hair the day after you wash it. This helps absorb oil before it starts, gives your hair amazing volume, and can give you more time between your hair wash days.
For beach days, mix leave in conditioner and water in a spray bottle, apply evenly throughout your hair after swimming in the salt water, and brush thoroughly. This will make sure that the ocean water doesn't make your hair have that gross feeling.
Make sure to always use a heat protectant when using hot tools (curling iron, straightener, blow-dryer, ETC) in your hair. Also make sure to check the temperature of your hot tools, in most cases, you should not be using the hottest setting. Your tool setting should not be over 400 degrees Fahrenheit, at that point, it's not styling your hair, it's frying your hair.
When styling your hair into a slick back, to help with tension use a hair mask. This not only provides your hair with protection, but it also gives your hair hydration while it's pulled tight.
To add more volume to your at home blowout, dry your roots off of your scalp. This prevents the hair from lying flat on the head and looking greasy immediately after styling.
Last but certainly not least, make sure to book your regularly scheduled haircuts/trims. Getting a trim is better than having split ends. And to quote one of the stylists directly, “The secret to a bomb blowout is a bomb haircut.”
At the end of the day, great hair comes down to smart care and proper habits. These stylist approved tips show that small changes can make a big difference, so take what works for you, treat your hair good, and let these pro tips guide you to your best hair days yet.
